Most Asked Questions

How is EverOps different from consulting firms or staff augmentation?

Traditional consulting firms stop at strategy—they advise but don't execute well. Staff augmentation gives you capacity but no certainty you'll achieve outcomes. DIY teams have the will but often lack bandwidth for complex, high-stakes work.

EverOps eliminates this trade-off. We embed elite engineers directly with your team—bringing proven playbooks, AI-native practices, and full ownership of outcomes. We sit in your standups, use your tools, and guarantee results on initiatives where failure isn't an option.

In short: More strategic than staff aug. More accountable than consulting. We deliver guaranteed outcomes where others deliver excuses.

What is a TechPod?

A TechPod is a small, forward-deployed team of 2–4 elite engineers that embeds directly with your organization. Each Pod integrates into your workflows—joining standups, working in your Slack channels, using your tools—while bringing proven playbooks and AI-native expertise.

Key characteristics:

  • Built-in leadership: Each Pod includes a Staff or Principal-level engineer who provides strategic guidance and owns delivery
  • Outcome-focused: We guarantee results, not hours
  • Seamless integration: Your team won't distinguish us from internal engineers
  • Zero overhead: No management burden on your side

TechPods can focus on specific initiatives (migrations, modernization) or provide ongoing operations (platform engineering, SRE, FinOps).

How much does EverOps cost?

Our engagements range from $50K for short Accelerator programs to $500K+ for long-term embedded Pods, depending on scope, duration, and team composition.

Pricing models:

  • Accelerators: Fixed-price packages ($50K–$150K) with clear scope and deliverables
  • Project-Based Pods: Fixed price or monthly retainer for 3–6 month initiatives
  • Ongoing Pods: Monthly retainer for continuous operations and improvement

We don't publish exact pricing because every engagement is scoped to your specific needs. However, we always provide transparent, predictable pricing before you commit.

ROI perspective: Most clients see 3–5× ROI within the first 6 months through cost savings, faster delivery, or avoided incidents.

How quickly can you start?

For Accelerators: We can typically start within 2 weeks of signed agreement.

For TechPods: Onboarding takes 1–2 weeks once scope is defined. We've had Pods making meaningful contributions (PRs, deployments, optimizations) within 3 days of starting.

The process:

  1. Discovery call (30–60 min) to understand your needs
  2. Scoping & proposal (3–5 days) with clear deliverables and pricing
  3. Contract & kickoff (1 week) including access, onboarding, and team intros
  4. Delivery begins (Day 1) with immediate value creation
Do you work onsite or remotely?

We're remote-first and have been since 2012. Our engineers are distributed across the US and work effectively with distributed teams.

For most engagements: 100% remote with video calls, Slack collaboration, and async communication.

For critical phases: We can arrange onsite presence (e.g., cutover weekends, executive alignment sessions) when it adds value.

Our experience: We've successfully delivered complex initiatives—including re-platforming production systems and re-networking global infrastructure—entirely remotely. Remote work is how we operate, not a compromise.

What if we can build this internally?

You probably can—eventually. The question is timing and opportunity cost.

Consider:

  • Time: Our playbooks and experience compress 12 months of DIY into 4–6 months with EverOps
  • Risk: We've done this dozens of times and know where the landmines are
  • Opportunity cost: Your team can focus on product work instead of infrastructure firefighting
  • Guaranteed outcomes: We own the result, not just the effort

When DIY makes sense: If you have bandwidth, low time pressure, and the initiative is low-stakes, DIY can work.

When EverOps makes sense: When failure isn't an option, speed matters, or you need expertise you don't have in-house.

How long is a typical engagement?

It varies by need:

Accelerators: 4–8 weeks for focused assessments and quick-start programs

Project-Based Delivery: 3–6 months for specific initiatives (migrations, modernizations, platform builds)

Ongoing Operations: 12+ months for continuous improvement, platform operations, or SRE partnerships

Average engagement: Most clients start with a 4-week Assessment or Accelerator, expand into a 6-month delivery project, and many continue with long-term operations Pods. Our average client relationship is measured in years, not months.

Which companies do you work with?

We work with technology-driven organizations across industries—from high-growth startups to public enterprises.

Client examples:

  • Tech: Coinbase, Snowflake, Peloton, Notion
  • Consumer: Arlo, Life360
  • Fintech: Multiple public and private companies
  • SaaS: Enterprise and mid-market platforms

Ideal client profile:

  • Technology leaders facing velocity, cost, or reliability pressure
  • Engineering teams of 20–500+
  • Cloud-native or actively modernizing
  • High-stakes initiatives where failure isn't an option
FAQ

Engagement Models

What's the difference between Strategy, Delivery, and Operations?

Strategy: Advisory and assessments (4–8 weeks) that define the right path forward before execution begins. Deliverable: Roadmap, architecture, actionable recommendations.

Delivery: Project-based execution (3–6 months) where TechPods deliver specific initiatives like migrations, modernizations, or platform builds. Deliverable: Working systems, guaranteed outcomes.

Operations: Ongoing partnerships (12+ months) for continuous operations, optimization, and reliability. Deliverable: Sustained excellence, always-on support.

How they connect: Most clients start with Strategy, move to Delivery, and many continue with Operations for long-term partnership.

What are Accelerators?

Accelerators are pre-scoped, fixed-price service packages designed to deliver results in 4–8 weeks without lengthy discovery cycles.

Current Accelerators:

  • AI Opportunity Assessment (4 weeks, ~$50K) — Identify highest-impact AI use cases
  • AI Quick Start (8 weeks, ~$100K) — Launch your first AI initiative with proven playbook
  • AI Adoption TechPod (6+ months, ~$150K+/mo) — Embed an expert AI team to scale adoption

Why Accelerators:

  • Fast time-to-value (weeks, not months)
  • Predictable scope and pricing
  • Proven methodologies
  • Often lead to larger Delivery or Operations engagements
How do you integrate with our existing team?

We embed directly—not as external consultants, but as an extension of your team.

Day-to-day integration:

  • Join your standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
  • Work in your Slack channels, Jira boards, and tools
  • Follow your git workflows and deployment processes
  • Participate in on-call rotations (for Operations Pods)

Cultural integration:

  • We adapt to your communication style and practices
  • Built-in leadership means no management overhead for you
  • Transparent collaboration (no black-box delivery)

Result: Clients consistently tell us they can't distinguish our engineers from their internal team.

Do you require long-term contracts?

Accelerators: Fixed scope, typically 4–8 weeks, no long-term commitment required.

Delivery Pods: Project-based with 3–6 month initial commitments, renewable based on outcomes.

Operations Pods: Monthly retainers with 90-day notice for changes.

Our philosophy: We earn long-term relationships through results, not contract lock-in. 95% client retention speaks to this approach.

Can we start small and scale up?

Absolutely. This is how most client relationships begin.

Typical progression:

  1. Start: 4-week diagnostic or Accelerator (~$50K)
  2. Prove value: Client sees ROI and clear roadmap
  3. Expand: 6-month Delivery Pod for critical initiative (~$300K+)
  4. Scale: Multiple Pods or long
