EKS Migration Readiness Assessment

4-week diagnostic that delivers a sequenced migration plan, validated architecture, and a risk-mapped roadmap, grounded in your actual environment, not a greenfield template. The foundation your platform needs to run reliably today and support AI agents tomorrow.
The Problem

Why EKS Migration Readiness Assessment?

Most EKS migrations start with confidence and hit the same problems: networking gaps, IAM errors, and reliability failures that surface after cutover, often after the migration team has already moved on. The starting point varies. The failure modes don't. The pressure to move is real. The cost of moving wrong is higher.

Why It's Hard

EKS migration isn't hard because the technology is complex. It's hard because dozens of decisions have to be made correctly and in sequence, and most teams don't catch the gaps until they're in production. Generic playbooks assume a clean starting point that rarely exists. And infrastructure that isn't observable and properly scoped isn't just a migration risk; it's a gap that will block return on AI investments down the line.

The Accelerator Advantage

This Assessment compresses the discovery and architecture work that typically runs alongside, and too often after, migration execution. In four weeks, you get a risk-mapped roadmap, validated architecture, and a sequenced migration plan with rollback defined at every stage. The forward-deployed engineers who built the plan execute it. No handoff, no ramp-up.

THE SOLUTION

What's Included

We assess your environment across all three migration risk pillars: networking and security, cost and efficiency, and reliability. All assessed before a single workload moves.
Discovery & Analysis
  • Workload inventory across all source environments
  • Containerization readiness by workload type
  • VPC, IAM, and security group review
  • Karpenter and spot strategy evaluation
  • Observability gap assessment, including AIOps readiness
  • CI/CD pipeline and container registry review
Deliverables
  • Workload inventory with readiness scores
  • EKS cluster architecture design
  • Networking and IAM decomposition plan
  • Sequenced migration plan with rollback at every boundary
  • Cost and efficiency model
  • AI-forward alignment notes
  • Executive readout with risk map and AWS MAP milestone alignment
Outcomes
  • Migration risk identified and sequenced before cutover
  • Validated architecture aligned to your existing standards, with no operational relearning
  • IAM debt documented before migration begins
  • Compute efficiency baseline sized to your actual workload profile
  • Observability foundation in place from day one, with AIOps-ready instrumentation
  • Infrastructure posture assessed for AI agent readiness
  • Engineering and leadership aligned on scope, timeline, and success criteria

Common Questions

"What happens after this Assessment?"

You leave with three options: execute the roadmap internally, engage EverOps for the full migration as a fixed-fee, milestone-gated engagement, or move into an embedded TechPod covering migration execution and ongoing EKS operations. Most clients proceed directly to the migration — the Assessment produces the architecture design and sequenced plan that becomes the SOW. No ramp-up, no re-scoping. The same engineers are already embedded and ready to go.

"Do we need to adopt specific tools or change our existing AWS setup?"

No, the Assessment is built around your existing VPC, CI/CD pipeline, and container registry. We don't apply greenfield patterns that require operational relearning. We evaluate your environment and provide options, not mandates.

"How is this different from what an AWS Professional Services team or a system integrator would deliver?"

Most SI-led assessments produce recommendations built from playbooks, not your environment. EverOps engineers review your actual workload inventory, IAM structure, and VPC configuration. The deliverable is a production-safe migration plan with rollback defined at every boundary, not a best-practices document. And the team that assessed the risk is the team that manages it.

"We're running a mix of ECS, EC2, and some on-prem Kubernetes. Can you handle that?"

That's one of the most common environments we assess. EverOps has executed EKS modernization from all of those starting points, including hybrid inventories. Migration sequencing accounts for the different complexity profiles across source environments. The migration path varies. The production standard doesn't.

"How quickly can we start?"

Typically within two weeks of signing. Week 1 requires two to three stakeholders: your platform or infrastructure leads and a security contact, plus read access to your AWS environment. No lengthy onboarding, no vendor procurement cycles. If you're ready to move, we're ready to start.
